Top of the Hill Gang PDF Print E-mail

Erin Amos is our coach and riding instructor. Erin grew up at Top of the Hill and has been riding since she was two years old. She grew up riding with her idol and mentor, Cathy Inch, a Level 3 instructor, at Foothills Farm in Sudbury, ON. There she progressed from camper, to counselor, to instructor for their summer camp programs, while continuing to ride and compete on the Trillium and A circuit. She taught her own summer camp programs and spent one summer working as one of the head instructors at the RCRA riding school (formerly York Equestrian Center) She has also been the barn manager, coach and riding instructor at several Ontario facilities. Erin attended the Equine Studies Program at Kemptville College. She tried working in the corporate world but always came back to her riding.

Erin has been competing on both Trillium and A circuits in both Hunter and Jumper for 25 plus years. As well as competing provincially, Erin also travels to the USA several times a year to compete internationally. Erin enjoys teaching and training and gets great satisfaction from bringing along young riders and horses. Erin is loved by all her students and is famous for her fair, firm and friendly teaching style.

Erin has taken numerous clinics over the years with many of Canada’s foremost equestrians including: Eric Lamaze, Mac Cone, Jay Hayes, John MacPhearson, Yann Candele, and Albert Voorn.  Each year Erin with the Top of the Hill team qualify several horses and riders for the Provincial Trillium Championships.

Lesley brings 40 years of experience in the horse industry and is a former student of the Halton School of Equitation. Lesley owned her first horse when she was just eleven years old and has never been without one since. She moved through the ranks to the Trillium and A circuits as a competitor, purchasing and training young horses on her own. While continuing to ride Lesley spent 24 years working for TD Bank and retired as a corporate analyst. She has done everything from rider, competitor to farm owner. She was the co-owner of Quiet Winter Farm, focusing on Hunters and Jumpers with the addition of a small breeding program. She has organized shows and with that expertise keeps our barn running smoothly. Lesley joined Top of the Hill in 2010 full time and lives on the property. We feel incredibly lucky to have her as part of the Top of the Hill team.

Mary Lou and Paul Amos purchased the Top of the Hill Farm in 1975. At that time it was just 50 acres and a house. Soon after they moved in they built what is now the small barn. Paul and Mary Lou are both retired Simcoe County high school teachers that have fulfilled their daughters dream by building Top of the Hill on the family homestead.  Mary Lou is supportive of all the riders at Top of the Hill and is always an active presence during lessons, shows and barn activities. Paul can be found driving the tractor, cutting the grass and is active in farm maintenance. Top of the Hill wouldn't be the same without them here.

Mike Coulson is our go to handy man. Without Mike our barn wouldn't function. He was a familiar barn dad face around Top of the Hill and it wasn't long before Top of the Hill knew he would be a great part of the team.
